In a significant breakthrough, Manipur police commandos have apprehended an active member of the banned Kangleipak Communist Party-Military Council (KCP-MC) in Bishnupur district.
Our Correspondent Imphal, Sep. 12 (EMN): Manipur police arrested one person for his alleged involvement in planting Improvised Explosive Device (IED) at a residential area of Singjamei Chingamakha in Imphal. The arrested person has been identified as Kshetrimayum Bhogendro alias Yaiphaba (41) of Khongman Zone III under Imphal East district. Informing that the arrested person is also working for an underground organisation since 2006, Superintendent of Police, Ksh Shivakanta of Imphal West district while speaking to reporters in Imphal on Monday, said six electronic digital circuits which were similar to the device used in the IED planted at Singjamei Chingamakha on September 8 this year, were recovered from the arrested person’s possession in an operation on Sunday. Three mobile phones, a number of demand letters, a PAN card and a pen drive containing other incriminating documents, were also recovered from Bhogendro’s possession, the SP said. Our Correspondent Imphal, Aug. 14 (EMN): Two Manipuri hockey players — Sh Nilakanta Sharma and Sushila Chanu Pukhrambam — who made India proud in the recently concluded Birmingham Commonwealth Games 2022, by winning silver and bronze medals as part of the national men’s and women’s hockey teams respectively — were accorded a warm welcome when they returned home on Sunday. On their arrival at the Bir Tikendrajit International airport, Hockey Manipur team along with local club members, well wishers, and respective family members welcomed the two medalists by garlanding them and shouting praising slogans.
