The Chinese Embassy in Myanmar has announced that the construction of the new Kunlong Bridge in Lashio Township, Lashio District, Shan State, is expected to be completed by this year. Freelance journalist Maung Myo was arrested by junta troops at the Thanlwin River (Salween River) Bridge checkpoint in Hpa-an township, Karen State at around 6 p.m. on 10 May, according to a source close to him.
The Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) reports that one of their top military commanders was killed in a battle to occupy Kyauk Nyat outpost, a Military Council base.
