last week to this week to some recognition that something has to be done. as someone in the state being effected by this our institution being effected by it we want to be optimistic that state legislature and governor are able to take action to address it but my concern right now is that the noise level has risen to such a height and on both sides of the argument here that i am not sure anything short of stepping back and starting it again is going to fix it. as a university president, my role by the way isn t to get on the political soap box, but to help bring people together to try to mediate the conflicts. so i m willing to offer butler university and the resources, our faculty, our campus to bring people together. if we have an issue here that needs to be addressed when it comes to religious freedom, if we have an issue that has to be addressed with respect to
protesting. there s a severe lack of balance. we re completely okay indicting a system of law enforcement without indicting the community. we keep hearing demonstrators say dismantle the system. have a fundamental change in the system. okay. why don t we do this? let ferguson be the first great left wing experiment. dismantle the police department. have the other cities absorb the cops. if you own a business there move. let ferguson be the first copless community and see how it goes. or as a solution instead of indicting a system, admit that everybody is culpable. not just the police but the community as well and the government that turns them into tax agents which by the way isn t isolated to ferguson. every city does this. some cities does it worse than ferguson. how do you get there? you have to admit there s a fundamental breakdown in the structures that kept communities together which is family work
here s some of the final storm totals. mostly around the twin cities and western wisconsin where the heaviest accumulations have been. almost two feet. almost two feet. the snow that s coming down today by the way isn t going to be as heavy. we re not going to see those types of accumulations again. that s going to start pushing up into parts of canada. that s where we ll see heavy snow. it s going to be the wind and the dangerous cold. take a look at the windchill indices we re dealing with. 22 degrees below zero number fargo. 14 below in minneapolis. chicago feels like 8. cleveland doing okay at 27 but we ll watch for those temperatures to continue to plummet throughout the day today and not to mention heavy snow that will come on the backside of this system with the lake-effect snow. those favored snow belts that got hit hard the last couple weeks will see them once again unfortunately. we could talk about maybe another 1 to 3 feet of snow as we head into the middle of the week. i
