It’s been quite a month, filled with forever memories. Funny, isn’t it, how we can pack so much life into so little time?

It didn’t take “7 Rings" to wed pop star Ariana Grande and real estate entrepreneur Dalton Gomez—just one tasteful and thoughtfully made band. A day after news broke of the couple’s surprise wedding, intimate details about the ceremony started to emerge, including how Gomez helped design the wedding ring he gave Grande. Solow & Co, the jewelry company of designer Jack Solow, confirmed to E! News that it “created a handmade diamond and platinum band for Ariana.” (It...

Randall: 3 simple things can make world a better place Sharon Randall Sometimes, when we don’t know what to say, it’s because what we want to say seems too complicated. But really, all we need is a few simple words. I can think of at least three sentences that, nine times out of ten, will need no improvement, as long as you say them and mean them with all your heart. First, “I’m sorry.” Everybody makes mistakes. Well, maybe you don’t, but I certainly do. If we say or do something th...

Join My 99-year-old mother sits in her black leather recliner all day at an assisted living facility in South Jersey. Her aides, trying to keep her engaged in life, encourage her to attend armchair exercise sessions and other activities, but she steadfastly refuses. To partake in them, she would have to do something abhorrent: associate with the other residents. “I don’t want anything to do with them,” she says. “They’re not my type. They’re a bunch of old hags. Not one of them has...

Listen to lead single "Bystand" now Published May 04, 2021 Its been two and a half years since Montreal art-rock trio Dresser dropped their self-titled EP, and theyve finally announced a follow-up.  Seventeen Block and Then Some, their debut full-length album, is set to be released on June 4, and the band have just shared a first taste of the new LP. "Bystand" zips by with spindly riffs and Finn Dalbeths yelping vocals, reminiscent of storied locals Ought, before amping up into a tight post-pu...

What does “home” mean to you? Is it a person? A place? Or a feeling you can’t quite explain? As a child, growing up in the Carolinas, home for me was all of those things. But mostly it meant being with people I loved.  The place varied: A house by a railroad track where I lived with my mother and her husband and my two little brothers. A farm in the mountains where my dad lived with his parents, and I often visited on weekends and in summer. Or my grandparents’ house on the main street...

At sunset, a breeze blew in from the coast and swirled up the valley, ruffling feathers on a jay that was perched on the fence, and knocking on the door of a room in my heart where I store my favorite memories.    It’s a big room. Getting crowded. More so every day. I heard the breeze before I felt it. It was whispering secrets in the oaks and cottonwoods that grow along the river and make this valley such a place of peace. I closed my eyes to listen. And somehow, in my mind’s ear, the w...

When you were a child, who was the person you most looked up to, the one you hoped to be just like when you grew up? For me, it wasn’t one person. It was a combination of two. Not just one or the other, but an odd sort of mixture of two distinctly different personalities. You won’t find their names in history books or on monuments or in lists of great achievement.  They weren’t rich or famous or powerful, at least not in a worldly sense. Their looks, by any standard, would leave much to ...
