Minneapolis City Council President Andrea Jenkins and challenger Soren Stevenson share similar views on major issues like affordable housing, police reform and racial equity. However, Jenkins, a self-titled “pragmatic progressive,” isn’t progressive enough for some who want to see a majority on the council that will stand up to a “strong mayor.”

Finding a replacement for the boarded-up shell of the Third Precinct building – among Minneapolis’ most visible reminders of George Floyd’s murder – has been a source of controversy for months.

On Oct. 20 at 8:43 p.m., Kohl's Loss Prevention called the Virginia Beach Emergency Communications and Citizen Services to report a shoplifting incident.

The officer was not injured and didn't return fire. Other officers joined the pursuit and they were eventually able to take the suspect into custody.
