Seán was a prolific writer and great family man

Seán was 87, when he passed away on Monday, October 26. A forestry manager by profession, Seán was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather and a proud Tipperary man. Born John Joseph Kearney on June 13, 1933, he was a son of John and Hannah Kearney, and was from near the historic landmark Mitchelstown Caves, near the villages of Burncourt and Ballyporeen. A keen Gaeilgeoir and patriot, he changed his name to Seán Ua Cearnaigh. Despite being the eldest and only son of a farmer, farming took second place to his passion for reading and learning, a fact his father accepted with time.
