A 41-year-old cold case homicide suspect is in custody after a Sunnyvale police detective dug up old fingerprint evidence left at the scene of the crime.
Since 2018, Detective Matt Hutchison has been investigating the 1979 slaying of Keith Judd inside his bar, the Lakewood Lounge.

Authorities in Sunnyvale said they have arrested a man they suspect in a decades-old homicide of a local bar owner.
The killing happened July 19, 1979, at a bar called the Lakewood Lounge, authorities said. An employee found the bar’s owner, Keith Judd, 45, lying in a pool of blood after apparently being attacked and robbed. He later died of his injuries, which included multiple skull fractures caused by blunt force trauma from a heavy weapon.
