SPRINGFIELD – Madison County State’s Attorney Tom Haine is asking the Illinois Supreme Court to declare Gov. Pritzker’s gun law unconstitutional, and state’s attorneys in 32 other counties are standing with him.
42-year-old Beau Admire, owner of Badger Combatives martial arts school in Galesburg pleaded not guilty to charges of criminal sexual assault and aggravated sexual abuse. Admire made the plea Tuesday and demanded a jury trial after testimony was heard from Monmouth Police Investigator Terry Hepner. Hepner summarized the victim's statements to investigators and a forensic interviewer. Warren County State's Attorney Thomas Siegel tells WGIL the victim described numerous incidents of abuse, three of which serve as the basis for the charges Admire faces. All three incidents allegedly took place in 2010 and 2011 in Warren County, when the victim was between 13 and 14. Siegel says that Admire is 16 years older than the victim, and held a position of trust or authority over the victim, in that he was her martial arts coach. A Monmouth man will be back in a Warren County courtroom on Tuesday, April 19, for his trial on numerous drug and weapons charges. According to Warren County State's Attorney Thomas Siegel, 24-year-old Dwight Washington is facing charges that include Armed Violence, Possession of a Stolen Firearm, and Possession of over 5,000 grams of Cannabis with Intent to Distribute. Washington was arrested on Friday, April 8, after law enforcement executed a search warrant of a residence in the 500-block of South 2nd Street in Monmouth. Siegel says that the U.S. Postal Service alerted the State's Attorney's office to suspicious shipments to the address and based on that information, a search warrant was prepared. Washington allegedly attempted to flee from the residence as the warrant was executed and was caught after a short foot pursuit.
