Fernando M. Ferdy Garcia, Jr Fernando M. “Ferdy” Garcia, Jr., 65, of Hillsboro, passed away Friday, May 7, 2021.
Ferdy was born March 7, 1956 in Hillsboro, the son of the late Fernando M. and Ruby M. (Steed) Garcia, Sr.
Ferdy was a special classmate and friend to all of the 1974 graduates of Hillsboro High School; attended Southern State Community College, where he received his associate degree; and graduated with honors from Ohio University with a bachelor s degree.
While attending college, Ferdy worked at several auto parts stores in Hillsboro and West Union. After receiving his bachelor s degree, Ferdy started substitute teaching at all the schools in Highland County.
SC funeral home employees are now receiving the COVID-19 vaccine

COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO)– Employees at South Carolina funeral homes have begun receiving their coronavirus vaccines. Alicia Clark of Thompson Funeral Homes received her vaccination Monday at the Lexington Medical Center.
According to the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control, embalmers and funeral home staff at risk of exposure to bodily fluids are among the healthcare workers included in phase 1a of the state’s vaccination plan.
