Three Mesa police officers were honored this month with lifesaving medals for helping to save a woman stabbed by her son multiple times at their Mesa home.

A 21-year-old suspect who refused to leave a coffee shop in Mesa, Arizona, fought and injured three police officers Sunday. One of the officers will require surgery.

The suspect allegedly squeezed one of the officers' hands so hard it broke, and said he should have taken the officer hostage, police said.
