Given that the two Australian supermarket chains that dominate our grocery industry routinely rack up profits in the order of $22 billion annually, that’s a no-brainer. It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our wife, mother, grandmother and sister, Johanna Tellervo Dosen (nee Jamsa), at the age of 67 on Wednesday May 19, 2021. She passed away peacefully at home with her family surrounding her.
Johanna was born on July 18, 1953 in Kannus Finland and immigrated to Thunder Bay Ontario with her family in 1957. She grew up in a large Finnish family and took part in many cultural activities. During her early years she spent time with her family at Pohjanpirtti on Surprise Lake enjoying saunas, swimming, and other activities.
After meeting her husband Milan, she soon adopted and became a member of the Croatian Community in Thunder Bay. She volunteered her time at the Croatian Rec Centre Velebit. Family was her main priority and love. She looked forward to her visits to spend time with her children and grandchildren out west. Her grandchildren were of the utmost importance to her.
It is with great sadness to announce the passing of Timothy Wayne Odell, age 74 of Thunder Bay Ontario, on Thursday, May 6, 2021 at Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre, following a courageous battle with cancer. A deep appreciation is extended to all people involved in caring for Tim during his illness. Due to current pandemic restrictions, a small private memorial service will be held at a future time and date.
God Saw You Getting Tired
You strove to live alone,
To talk and walk around,
But as the illness was relentless,
You were forced to give-up ground.
God saw you getting tired,
It is with profound sadness that the family of Richard A Miller, age 72, regrets to announce his passing on Thursday April 8th from complications of cancer. Richard spent most of his life battling this awful disease, fighting fearlessly until the end.
Richard was born in Red Lake Ontario, but grew up in Thunder Bay Ontario, with his sisters and mother. Richard, also known as Rick or Ricky, was such a thoughtful, caring and giving man, always willing to stop whatever he was doing to help someone else. Richard was an amazing father, constantly worrying about his children and grandchildren, as he held them all close to his heart.
