Show Transcript ELECTION A PARTISAN ISSUE. THERE WERE LOTS OF ISSUES WERE IT WAS AN INCONSISTENT PROCESS. REPORTER: DEMOCRAT RITA HART SPOKE TO KCCI FOR THE FIRST TIME SINCE THE DISTRICT-WIDE RECOUNT ON THURSDAY. SHE CLAIMS THE RECOUNT WAS INCONSISTENT AND THOUSANDS OF LEGAL VOTES WENT UNCOUNTED. WHEN WE KNOW THERE WERE A LOT OF VOTES THAT WERE NOT EXAMINED, IT IS JUST SO CRUCIAL WE GET THIS RIGHT AND WE MAKE SURE EVERY PERSON’S VOTE IS COUNTED. REPORTER: HART AND HER CAMPAIGN PLAN TO APPEAL THE RESULTS IN THE U.S. HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES. THEY ALSO COULD HAVE APPEALED THE CERTIFIED RESULTS TO THE IOWA JUDICAL SYSTEM, BUT SAY THAT PROCESS WOULD NOT HAVE ALLOWED ENOUGH TIME TO COUNT THE THOUSANDS OF VOTES THEY CLAIM SHOULD HAVE BEEN COUNTED.
