COVID-19 has made some people look at life from a different perspective. Animals have become furry companions to replace human ones that people must socially distance from, and increased time inside has encouraged people to open their homes to animals in need.Â
According to Tiffany Corbin, fundraising and marketing director of the Rockingham-Harrisonburg SPCA, the center saw a 20% increase in adoptions in 2020 and a total of 1,324 adoptions for the whole year.

âWe had a 400% increase in our foster program since there were more people who were staying at home, working from home â they had more time to invite an animal into their home,â Corbin said.

HARRISONBURG, Va. (WHSV) â Following a positive coronavirus exposure, the Rockingham - Harrisonburg SPCA will be closed through Thursday.
So, the shelter is moving their Valentineâs Day fundraiser online to give the shelter animals some love.
For every $10 donated to the shelter, a valentine will be placed on the animalâs kennel addressed from you.
All donations go to the general donation fund for the SPCA.
