The 25th-ranked Kansas Jayhawks have been selected to the 2022 NCAA Tournament, it was announced Monday evening. The Jayhawks will travel to Stanford, California to take on UC-Santa Barbara in the opening round.
Following Kansas Tennis’ 4-0 win over No. 53 Kansas State to close out the regular season, the Jayhawks will travel south to Fort Worth, Texas to participate in the Big 12 tournament on Friday April 22nd at 9 a.m.
This weekend, Kansas Tennis’ seniors were a major role in closing out the season against No. 53 Kansas State. All seniors won their singles matches and Ngounoue / Deming cliched the doubles point for Kansas, leading to a dominate 4-0 victory.

Kansas notched the first victory of the 2021 season at Tulsa (4-3) back on January 31. The Jayhawks would proceed to mount a win streak that included multiple back-to-back wins, taking 5-of-8 of their matches.
Tulsa (4-3): Kansas took the doubles point behind strong performances from Smagina and Vasiliki Karvouni 6-2 and Julia Deming and Tiffany Lagarde 7-6. In singles play, the Jayhawks tallied victories via Karvouni (6-4, 6-1), Manu (6-4, 7-6 [10-7]) and Ngounoue (6-3, 7-5).

Sonia Smagina and Vasiliki Karvouni followed with a dominating 6-1 victory. With a sweep on courts three and one, Kansas took the doubles point. Manu completed her match with sets of 6-4 and 6-0. Karvouni’s match was fundamentally sound, as she routed her competition 6-1 and 6-2. The Jayhawks now held a commanding 3-0 lead over the Wildcats. Maria Linares got Kansas State on the board with her win on court two but Julia Deming put an end to any potential Wildcat momentum. Deming’s court six win wrapped up the match with victories of 6-4 and 6-4.

First serve versus the No. 2 ranked Longhorns is set for Friday, April 9 at 5 p.m. The No. 49 ranked Jayhawks will commence their match versus the No. 10 ranked Bears on Sunday, April 11 at noon.
