A civic group, the Rule of Law and Accountability Advocacy Centre (RULAAC) has called on the Nigerian Inspector General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba to end the irregularities at the anti-kidnapping unit of Imo State Police Command. RULAAC made this call in a statement released by its Executive Director, Okechukwu Nwanguma, narrating how two young men were unlawfully arrested and detained by the unit in December 2022.

Family members of Chike Chiba and Felix Omerije, two members of a local vigilante group in Oja community under Ohaji Egbema Local Government Area of Imo State have demanded their unconditional release from the Nigerian police custody, nearly one year after their unlawful arrest. SaharaReporters learnt that the vigilante group was formed to protect the residents of Oja community from the menace of kidnappers, armed robbers and rapists.
