A Hempfield man who suffered a medical emergency while driving early Wednesday morning died of injuries from the resulting crash, Westmoreland Coroner Tim Carson said. James A. Shifko, 62, of Broadway Avenue was headed south on Westec Drive shortly before 7 a.m. when, Carson said, he suffered a medical emergency.

A woman was killed in a crash on Wednesday afternoon in Hempfield A Westmoreland County 911 dispatcher said the crash occurred around 4:40 p.m. in the 800 block of Arona Road. Coroner Tim Carson said the woman, who has not yet been formally identified, died in the head-on, two-car collision.
