(Fargo, ND) -- The Fargo Public Library is speaking on the passage of a law that is causing confusion among library communities across the state. House Bill 1205 prohibits libraries from maintaining explicit sexual material, to report they are following the bill, and to enact the policy over any children's book inventory being maintained by a public library after March 31,

The event was a silent show of support for the Fargo Public Library, and a silent protest against House Bill 1205.

Fargo Public Library director Tim Dirks said he's glad Senate Bill 2360 was stopped, but he is still figuring out how to handle House Bill 1205, which Burgum signed on Tuesday, April 25.

"Right now, as it stands, essentially the local library's control of collections would end" if the bills become law in North Dakota, said Tim Dirks, director of the Fargo Public Library.

“I certainly don’t want to go to jail for doing my job, but I am not going to censor either,” said Bismarck Veterans Memorial Public Library Director Christine Kujawa.
