Karen Scott Sawyer, age 78, passed away on Thursday, June 24, 2021, after a 12-year battle with Alzheimer’s. She was born in Paris, Texas, during the brief period her father was commissioned to build airstrips at Camp Maxie. Raised in Tyler, Karen attended Tyler Public Schools, graduated from Lee High School and enrolled in Tyler Junior College.
