EDMONTON, AB - The Edmonton Oilers have acquired defenceman Duncan Keith and forward Tim Soderlund from the Chicago Blackhawks in exchange for blueliner Caleb Jones and a conditional pick in the 2022 NHL Draft.
The pick will be Edmonton s third-round selection in 2022; or, in the event that the Oilers win three rounds in the 2022 Stanley Cup Playoffs and Keith is among the top four Edmonton defencemen in total time on ice through the first three rounds, Chicago will receive Edmonton s second-round pick in 2022.

Duncan Keith was traded to the Edmonton Oilers by the Chicago Blackhawks on Monday for Caleb Jones and a conditional pick in the 2022 NHL Draft.
Edmonton will also receive minor league forward Tim Soderlund.
Keith, who turns 38 on Friday, has two seasons remaining on a 13-year, $72 million contract ($5.5 million average annual value) he signed Dec. 3, 2009.

CHICAGO (AP) Duncan Keith is heading to the Edmonton Oilers in the latest departure of a cornerstone player from the Chicago Blackhawks’ Stanley Cup core, a move that could help the club speed up a long-term rebuild.
Chicago traded Keith, a two-time Norris Trophy winner, to Edmonton on Monday along with forward Tim Soderlund for young defenseman Caleb Jones and a conditional 2022 third-round draft pick. Keith asked the Blackhawks for a trade to Western Canada to be closer to his 8-year-old son, Colton, who he went long stretches without seeing last season.

EDMONTON - Veteran defenceman Duncan Keith wanted to be closer to home, and the Edmonton Oilers appeared to be the right fit.
The Oilers acquired Keith and forward Tim Soderlund from the Chicago Blackhawks on Monday in exchange for blue liner Caleb Jones and a conditional third-round draft pick in 2022.
Keith went to Blackhawks general manager Stan Bowman this off-season looking for a move that would get him into Western Canada.
