It’s plagued humanity since the beginning of time, and despite the posturing and protests, lacks simple solutions.   Years ago I had the opportunity to visit an inner city ministry in Atlanta, Ga. on several occasions, observing firsthand how leaders there were striving to help equip down-and-outers to one day become up-and-oute...

Bob Tamasy: Darkness Only Makes The Stars Shine Brighter Thursday, June 3, 2021 - by Bob Tamasy Bob Tamasy “Night is when the stars come out.” How many times have you heard people say that? Seems right, doesn’t it? But if it’s true, where have the stars been? If they’ve just come out, where have they come from?   Of course, we know the stars are there all the time. It’s just because of the brightness and comparative proximity of our sun, they can’t be seen during the day. ...

Sadly, many in our military have experienced that firs...

One was a young man named Thomas Jefferson Smith, whose father had written the aged former president in the hope he’d offer his young son some life advice. His words were powerful: “Your affectionate and excellent father has requested that I would address to you something which might p...

After weeks of attending class, listening the teacher drone on about some topic, reading the textbook and working through questions or equations, next came the test.   I can still vividly recall exam week in college, cramming for one final after another, hoping to absorb and then regurgitate the right answers to earn ...

Bob Tamasy: Since When Did the Work Ethic Become Unethical? Monday, May 10, 2021 - by Bob Tamasy Bob Tamasy Walking into a restaurant last week, my wife and I were greeted by a sign that read, “We are short staffed. Please be patient with the staff that did show up. No one wants to work anymore.” Evidently, this is not an exaggeration. A recent newspaper article quoted other restaurant owners making the same complaint. An increasing number can’t find enough workers to keep their do...

Bob Tamasy: A Picture Being Worth A Thousand Words Isn’t Enough Monday, May 3, 2021 - by Bob Tamasy Bob Tamasy Since college, photography has been one of my favorite pastimes, ranking just behind writing. A graduate teaching assistantship in photojournalism launched me into the world of color and black-and-white imagery, and my passion for taking photos has only grown stronger over the years.   My wife graciously has allowed me to hang many of my pictures around the house, some of our...
