Howard Zlotkin, a white science teacher at William L. Dickinson High School In New Jersey, has been suspended with pay after going on a racist rant where he called George Floyd a criminal. According to the New York Times, his students were on a Google Meet call expecting to hear about climate change, but Zlotkin’s attention shifted.
“He’s not a hero; he’s like a criminal,” he yelled in a video shared with the outlet. He then chastised students for making criminals into heroes “because they’re Black or because they got a bad story.”

Teacher Howard Zlotkin s alleged expletive-filled rant reportedly occurred during a Zoom class with students at Jersey City s William L. Dickinson High School. Some of his offensive language was said to be directed at Black students. He can be heard on video, apparently captured from the Zoom session, calling George Floyd a f king criminal.

A Jersey City High School teacher has been suspended after going on two profanity-laced rants aimed at students in his class, the superintendent said.
Howard Zlotkin, a science teacher at Dickinson High School, turned a Zoom class discussion on climate change into a vulgar verbal attack toward his students, according to a video clip that aired on NBC New York Friday.
In the recording of the Zoom class taken by one of the students, Zlotkin appears highly agitated and is heard making remarks about Black Lives Matter, George Floyd, white privilege and a student. Zlotkin is white, while Dickinson boasts a diverse student body population.
