MIFFLINTOWN — Laurie S. Hower has announced her candidacy for Juniata County treasurer on the Republican ticket. Hower is a lifelong resident of Juniata County and the daughter of the late Jay H. Thompson and the late Erma P. Richardson of Port Royal. She has been married to Timothy Hower for almost 34 years and they have two grown children, Michael Hower of Mifflintown and Vanessa Harris of Halsey, Oregon.
