I reckon the off-contract Melbourne Storm and former Queensland and Australian captain is carrying on like a self-centred rugby league diva with his continued refusal to make an announcement about his playing future.
I say announcement rather than decision because it is inconceivable to me that he hasn t already made up his mind about whether he will be playing next season – and, if he is, with whom.
After all, Smith s reputation as one of the best rugby league players of all time has been based on his ability to see the game unfolding two or three plays in advance.

The game, to be played at Lismore s Oakes Oval, will be the final hit-out for the Gold Coast side before they again come up against the Warriors in round one of the 2021 NRL season.
The main game will commence at 5.30pm with matches leading up to the main game including under 16 and 18 representative games between Northern Rivers Titans and Central Coast Roosters and a Titans physical disability team exhibition match.
“There will be a full day of football at Oakes Oval and whether you’re a footy fan or experiencing rugby league for the first time, this will be a great spectacle,” Gold Coast Titans CEO Steve Mitchell said.
