A ban on the use of controversial colouring titanium dioxide (E171) will come into effect in the European Union in 2022.

Last week, Member States approved the European Commission’s proposal to ban the use of Titanium Dioxide E171 as a food additive becauase it can not considered as safe when used as a food additive because of concerns regarding genotoxicity.
