The Troy Athens Red Hawks scored on a mad scramble about three minutes into the first overtime and held on to defeat the Brighton Bulldogs 2-1 Saturday night to claim the MHSAA Division 1 boys soccer championship.
Brody Fahnestock’s free kick from outside of midfield carried over the traffic in front of the Northville goal in overtime in Wednesday’s Division 1 semifinal, and buried itself in the back of the net for the go-ahead goal in a 3-2 win by the No. 3-ranked Red Hawks over No. 2 Northville.
