A new Ryanair route, which will fly directly from Shannon Airport to Malta, was launched on Sunday . The route is the first ever scheduled Ryanair service to Malta from Shannon Airport. It will operate twice weekly, each Thursday and Sunday, until October 27, 2022.

Malta saw a boost in summer 2020 thanks to its place, for some time, on the UK s green travel corridor list. Though it is not clear whether or not the nation will be on the green list under the UK Government s traffic light system , its tourism authority has already outlined plans to encourage visitors to return.
Under the scheme, tourists visiting Malta will be paid up to €100 (£87) when they book to stay in a hotel for at least three nights.
It is thought the scheme will begin from June.
