Peter Bendix has been in the Tampa Bay front office for 14 years, but this is his first as general manager. He sat down with InsideTheRays.com publisher Tom Brew to discuss the first half of the season and what might happen between now and the Aug. 2 trade deadline as the Rays try to track down a playoff spot.

Tampa Bay outfielder Kevin Kiermaier, who has been slowed by some calf and Achilles tightness the past few days, said hes feeling much better and should be available if needed on Friday night, with the hope of being in the starting lineup again on Saturday.

The Tampa Bay Rays have been playing well and are now eight games over .500, tying its high mark of the season after a series win over the Detroit Tigers. Here are three things I liked about the Rays this week.
