The village of Schaumburg is proposing a $217 million multi-year Capital Improvement Plan. The plan includes $66 million in improvements slated for the fiscal year that begins May 1, 2023.

Schaumburg trustees have approved the replacement of three large single-family home lots with an eight-building, 35-unit townhouse development between Michaels Funeral Home and Christ Community Mennonite Church on South Roselle Road.

The fate of a Schaumburg familys six chickens and duck, which members have requested permission to keep since the animals were recently discovered by village officials, will lie in the hands of a soon-to-be-appointed new village trustee.

It is with great sadness that the Village of Schaumburg announces the death of Village Board Trustee Frank Kozak who passed away Dec. 3, 2022, at the age of 78.

Frank Kozaks list of accomplishments include serving as a Schaumburg trustee, years as a dedicated volunteer for charities and athletics, and -- surviving an EF5 tornado.

The field of candidates in Hoffman Estates 2023 trustee race for three seats on the village board officially shrank Tuesday, a day after it had grown.

The end of candidate filing for the Schaumburg, Hoffman Estates and Palatine village board races Monday determined none will require a Feb. 28 primary, but only Palatine is unquestionably free of a contested April 4 election as well.

Schaumburg Mayor Tom Dailly could face a challenge in his reelection bid, while in Hoffman Estates, retired police lieutenant and former mayoral candidate Mark Mueller was the only non-incumbent to file Monday to run for a village trustee position.

Schaumburg trustees Tuesday will consider a tentative property tax levy of $19.5 million, where it has been since a 5% reduction in 2019 and a continuation of efforts to avoid an increase since its introduction in 2009 during the Great Recession.

Sen. Dick Durbin and Rep. Raja Krishnamoorthi want the feds to drill down on the impact of a Canadian Pacific-Kansas City Southern freight railroad merger on the Chicago region. "I dont believe what they produced is accurate," Durbin said.
