Hillsboro City Council received an update on plans for the Roberts Lane extension, while an ordinance affecting a different city street was rejected, with council unanimously voting against a proposal converting Johnson Street to a one-way during their Thursday, Oct. 12 meeting.

I have had AEP service for more than four decades at my home and business. I am not upset with my AEP billing or service. Had I discarded what at first glance I thought was junk mail, I would have unwittingly changed billing services. No thanks. I'll keep my billing – and more importantly my customer service – with AEP Ohio.

In a brief meeting with unusually low attendance from city officials, Hillsboro City Council members were limited to a few committee reports and the consideration of legislation Thursday, Sept. 14.

A resident’s suggestion earlier this year to convert Johnson Street in Hillsboro to a one-way street was met with criticism Thursday, Aug. 17, with Hillsboro City Council members conducting a public hearing before hearing the first reading of an ordinance for the potential change.

With Hillsboro City Council’s August meeting falling roughly halfway through the public comment period for the city’s proposed pedestrian safety project, the citizens’ comments portion of the meeting included backlash from property owners concerned about the projected loss of parking spots in the uptown district.

Hillsboro City Council members discussed adding a new parks director position to the city’s pay scale, as well as talks of raising wages for elected officials, during their Thursday, Aug. 17 meeting.

At their regular July meeting, Hillsboro City Council members heard the first reading of a proposed update to the city’s sign ordinances as well as a change to a council committee.

After nearly a year of planning, Hillsboro City Council voted — in a split decision — to approve an ordinance creating a Designated Outdoor Refreshment Area (DORA) in uptown Hillsboro during their Thursday, June 15 meeting.
