April 30, 2021 Tom Panetta is running for re-election.  I have worked with Tom and known him for more than 20 years.  As a friend and as a professional colleague he has always displayed the highest level of integrity.  From a technical and contractual point of view you can be sure that he is dedicated to the proper actions when dealing with the Lewes wastewater treatment plant.  In addressing the WWTP failure, I believe you can be confident that the Root Cause report was unbiased ...

Friday, January 8, 2021 Seven candidates seek five seats in two Lewes elections Saturday, May 8. Voters would be hard-pressed to find a bad candidate, but elections are about making choices. For city council, with two seats on the line, incumbent Rob Morgan faces newcomers Carolyn Jones and Khalil Saliba. Morgan is seeking his fourth term. As an attorney, Morgan can pick apart any issue with a fine-tooth comb. Jones offers a straight-shooter approach; she’ll tell it like it is. During her c...

Steve Rogers April 29, 2021 One of the great things about Lewes is that exceptionally skilled and talented people retire here and want to serve. Tom Panetta is one of these people.  He does his homework on the issues in front of him and asks good questions before he makes decisions.  He works well with other people because he respects their opinions even if they differ from his. He makes every effort to be well informed on the questions before him and protects the interests of the ...

Bernard J. Clark III, MD April 23, 2021 I am writing in support of the candidacy of Tom Panetta, who is seeking re-election to the Lewes Board of Public Works.  Elected to his first term three years ago, Tom has since made several significant contributions to the board and the operation of the BPW. His background could not be better for this position.  He worked professionally in the power industry for over 20 years with a degree in nuclear engineering.  He has been a resident of L...

Running for seats are incumbents Robert Kennedy, Tom Panetta and Robert Kennedy, and challenger Richard Nichols. Each candidate was asked by the Cape Gazette to answer the same questions about topics important to ratepayers.  Biographical information Robert Kennedy: I was born and raised in Lewes, and resided in Lewes until I ...

Friday, January 8, 2021 Candidates for Lewes City Council and the Board of Public Works made their case to voters April 15-16 in forums hosted by the Greater Lewes Civic Coalition. Both elections will be held Saturday, May 8.  Incumbent Rob Morgan and challengers Carolyn Jones and Khalil Saliba are seeking two three-year seats on city council. Deputy Mayor Bonnie Osler is not seeking re-election.  The candidates agreed on many topics, including that a tax increase would be a last-resort optio...

Nadine Wick April 15, 2021 I’ve known Tom Panetta for many years and I am fully supporting him without hesitation for a seat on the Lewes Board of Public Works. My reasons follow:  • Tom has proven experience in working to better the interests of the citizens of Lewes and the ratepayers of BPW • He has extensive technical background on the operation of utilities • As an active member of the Lewes Planning Commission he is an asset to the running of the BPW, especially in resp...

When he first ran for the Lewes Board of Public Works, Tom Panetta was one of the most highly qualified candidates ever to seek that position. During his tenure he has proven to be an outstandingly dedicated and productive member of the board. It is...

Bob Heffernan  April 15, 2021 I serve on the Lewes Planning Commission with Tom Panetta.  Tom is thoughtful, practical, and thinks things through.  He is prepared, starts with the facts, and lets those facts guide the conclusion. He is always searching for the best solution, yet quick to adopt new ideas that reach our goals. Tom is  committed to making and keeping Lewes a special place. Tom Panetta is willing to commit the time and effort required for the planning commission and t...

Nick Carter April 8, 2021 Tom Panetta is a standing member of the Lewes Board of Public Works, the Lewes Planning Commission, and the sea level rise subcommittee.  Other planning commissioners also serve on the sea level rise subcommittee and have drafted two city code ordinances which will alter building requirements for property owners in the water recharge area.  Once drafted, the foreboding, restrictive building ordinance recommendations were then presented back to themselves as...
