PHOENIX Governor Doug Ducey today announced a transfer of $8 million from the Arizona Industrial Development Authority’s Fiscal Year 2021 single family mortgage balance to the Arizona Department of Housing.
The funds will go directly into the Arizona Housing Trust Fund, pursuant to state law.
“I am pleased to see that we have added more resources to the Housing Trust Fund, which provides the Arizona Department of Housing its most flexible source of funding to combat homelessness and housing instability in Arizona,” said Governor Ducey. “Since the Arizona Industrial Development Authority’s first year of operation in Fiscal Year 2017, transfers to the Housing Trust Fund total over $39 million.”

Phoenix, Arizona - Governor Doug Ducey and the Arizona Department of Housing announced $500,000 for the United States Veterans Initiative to support its efforts to ensure veterans experiencing homelessness have safe, adequate living conditions.
This announcement comes on the first day of Tom Simplot’s new role as Director of the Arizona Department of Housing (ADOH) and follows Wednesday’s announcement of $508 million in new federal funding to address homelessness and housing instability throughout the state.
“We need to make sure we’re taking care of those who have done so much to protect our nation,” said Governor Ducey. “Yesterday, I appointed Tom Simplot to Director of the Arizona Department of Housing to strengthen our state’s efforts to combat homelessness and housing instability. Today’s funding takes these efforts a step further in supporting Arizonans, while ensuring veterans in need have safe housing. I’m grateful

PHOENIX â The Arizona Department of Housing s new leader, Tom Simplot is a familiar face to Phoenicians.
Simplot, who served on the Phoenix City Council from 2003-2013, represented District 4 which includes parts of Central and West Phoenix. He told ABC15 that during his time on the Council housing was a top priority citing his work with a non-profit to build housing for what was a growing unsheltered population near the VA Hospital on Indian School near 7th Street.
