The spacecraft that NASA deliberately crashed into an asteroid last month succeeded in nudging the rocky moonlet from its natural path into a faster orbit, marking the first time humanity has altered the motion of a celestial body.

The agency's DART mission exceeded expectations, marking the first time humans have changed the trajectory of a celestial body

NASA confirms that its DART spacecraft nudged the asteroid Dimorphos into a new orbit

DARTs goal was to shorten an asteroids orbit by at least 73 seconds, although scientists hoped the effect would be more like 10 minutes. But the first calculations are in, and DART blew those milest

A spacecraft that plowed into a small, harmless asteroid millions of miles away succeeded in shifting its orbit, NASA said Tuesday in announcing the results of its save-the-world test.
