On Tuesday former New York Giants star quarterback Eli Manning played the role of receiver, accepting $10,000 on behalf of Tackle Kids Cancer (TKC). A posthumous wish-granting at the Make-A-Wish New Jersey headquarters, the donation was in honor of 2 1/2-year-old Penelope Lindsay of Garfield.
Known as Penny, the bright and bubbly toddler was diagnosed with stage 4 high-risk neuroblastoma last summer after an emergency room visit for an unexplained swollen black eye. After a courageous eight-month battle, Penny lost her life to the childhood cancer in February. She was perfect, said Penny s parents, Cassandra Izquierdo and Jack Lindsay, in unison.

MONROE – Throughout March, customers of Jersey Mike’s Subs can grab a sub and help grant wishes through Make-A-Wish New Jersey to children with critical illnesses in local communities throughout the state.
Make-A-Wish New Jersey is joining forces with more than 90 Jersey Mike’s Subs throughout the state for the 11th annual March “Month of Giving” campaign to fund local charities, according to a release.
This is the fifth year of the sub shop’s partnership with Make-A-Wish New Jersey. Since their partnership began in 2017, Jersey Mike’s Subs has raised over $1.1 million for Make-A-Wish New Jersey, helping to grant over 150 wishes to children with critical illnesses in local communities throughout the state, according to the release.

The 15-year-old woke up Sunday morning to a surprise parade outside his home that ended with a special delivery: a camper to travel to the theme park in Florida. I really want to go to Disney, said Lucien standing inside his brand-new camper. Florida is closer so I guess we ll go there. But I still can t believe this happened.
Traveling has always been his dream.
Ever since he was 5 years old, Lucien said, he had set his mind on leaving Neptune to visit distant locations like national parks or even Disney World. But lifelong health challenges, combined now with COVID-19 restrictions, made his wish nearly impossible, his father, 34-year-old Jeffrey Lucien, 34, said.
