The charges come as the parent company of Fast Lane, Warrenton Oil, has joined with a politically connected slot machine distributor, Torch Electronics, to sue the Highway Patrol in an attempt to head off law enforcement scrutiny of the games.

The annual battle about what is and what is not an illegal gambling machine began Thursday with a Senate committee hearing on a bill to ban "pre-reveal" games that have proliferated throughout the state.
