of the year, monday is it. this red area you see here, this is the only area we expect severe weather on monday. and even with that said, it s likely going to be damaging winds. we re not expecting a tornado outbreak. because of that we expect to keep our tornado numbers where they are. when you look at this map, this is all the tornado reports so far this year. the number may seem high in some of the states but for the year we re actually below average. the number of ef 4 and 5 tornados, what we deem violent, we have zero this year. we average about seven every year, this is fantastic. because we haven t had the violent tornados we have had only ten deaths. one thing to note, yes, those ten deaths were horrific for what took place, but this is actually a record low number. we have never had a year in the
live from the cnn weather center. how much longer is it going to last? unfortunately rain chances through the rest of the year, especially into the southeast. for year yeahs of the northeast and midatlantic, you re going to get a little bit of a break. it s the southeast where we got one storm exiting and another one starting to arrive. so because of that you still have rain chances stretching from texas all way towards florida. while we do expect rain and thunder, we don t expect any severe storms and really none for tomorrow. the only real threat for the rest of the year exists on monday and it s going to be in this red area right here, basically portions of mississippi and louisiana and that s it. and even then your mainly only focusing on winds. which means that we are likely going to keep the tornado numbers we have had so far this
only 18 tornados touched down the united states and that was the quietest march in 35 years and then fast-forward to the month of april, 82 tornados touched down and the quietest april for 21 years, and last week we were well below average for tornado numbers and in the past five days just looking from the data from the storm prediction center, they have seen 31 tornados in the past five days. the storms have come in on the order of 20 to 25 tornado reports every single day last week. and the ingredients were in place around joplin. dry air was coming out from the rockies and there s interaction over the region and very few places on the planet have this sort of a setup, and only one place can produce this many tornados and that would be
