88 Energy reports that the mobilisation of the Arctic Fox rig to the Merlin-2 appraisal well drilling location is now complete. Pre-spud operations are continuing and now entering the final phase. The Merlin-2 spud date is scheduled for the week commencing 7 March 2022, with the well permitted to a Total Depth (TD) of 8,000 feet.

United Oil & Gas has announced that the Al Jahraa-13 development well in the Abu Sennan licence, onshore Egypt, encountered 17.5m of net pay in the oil-bearing Upper and Lower Bahariya reservoir targets. The well will be tested and completed in the coming days and will then be brought immediately onstream through the existing Al Jahraa facilities.

88 Energy has provided an update on operations at Project Peregrine. Operations remain on track for the spud of the Merlin-2 appraisal well in February 2022. Merlin-2 is targeting a net entitlement mean Prospective Resource of 652 million barrels (unrisked).

Advent Energy shareholder BPH Energy has advised that a Call for Tender has been issued by Advent Energy for the Seablue-1 gas exploration well, located in PEP 11 in the Sydney Basin. The well has two objectives; (i) a gas target and (ii) evaluation for Carbon Capture and Storage.

88 Energy has announced that the Merlin-2 well location has now been selected, from three initially permitted locations. The Merlin-2 well location, scheduled for drilling in February 2022 using the recently contracted Arctic Fox rig, is located east and downdip of the successful Merlin-1 well.
