We talk about a fair and transparent election, the millions of dollars that get spent in these elections really do give a disproportionate voice to the wealthiest among us to determine who our representatives will be. I also, chair, president tang, if i may, wanted to address one nominee that i heard from many members of the public and in fact she was my first choice and i would have really liked to have nominated her today and that is city administrator naomi kelly. She is someone had has served at the helm of the city for decades and is a great public servant. And would have been a perfect fit for the interim mayor role. But i think it is certainly appropriate given the subject matter that we have today. I certainly didnt mind the short commute over here. But it is a great setting to be at the auto show, surrounded by the latest and the great the Auto Industry has to offer. Im joined this morning with vice senator stav no from the great state of michigan and she as if krjed me that while the washington ought so show is good, the detroit ought so show is great. So that might be the locale for our next field hearing next year on this same subject. I appreciate you standing in or sitting in for senator cantwell, our Ranking Member on the committee. Social media sites moved fast to take the postings down. Police tell us flanagan fled the scene after the shooting and switched cars at the airport. He was spotted on interstat 66. Shortly before 11 a. M. This morning Virginia State Police Trooper was on patrol and attempted to stop the vehicle. The driver of the sonic Vester Flanagan also known as Bryce Williams refused to stop and sped away from the trooper. It was only a minute or two later when the sonic ran off the road into the median.
