The Tri-Town, alongside the Old Rochester Regional School District, have proposed a clinic at the which would provide the covid vaccine to over 1,000 teachers.
The proposal, announced in a Feb. 25 press release, would provide the first dose of the vaccine to 1,192 educators over the course of two days at the Benjamin D. Cushing Community Center in Marion.
The plan, spearheaded by Marion and backed by State Rep. Bill Straus, was put together in anticipation of further progress through Phase 2 of the state’s vaccination plan.

Proposed changes to the street wouldn’t affect its width, but they would add ‘no parking’ signs and paint to limit the crowding of cars.
MARION The town is planning to add safety signage to Hiller Street, but some residents think ‘no parking’ signs and new road paint may not be enough.
A Board of Selectmen public hearing on Feb. 25 drew comments from residents and selectmen alike on the proposed changes to the street, which intersects with Main and Front Streets, and includes a sharp, narrow 90-degree turn.
While proposed changes to the street wouldn’t affect its width, they would add ‘no parking’ signs and paint to limit the crowding of cars.
Hundreds of first responders - including Wareham and Onset Firefighters, Wareham Police, and Wareham EMS - have received the first round of the covid vaccine, thanks to a clinic at the Benjamin D. Cushing Community Center in Marion.
The drive-through clinic, held on Jan. 13 and 14, was the first major rollout of the vaccine in the Tri-Town.
“We didn’t have control over this and we’ve finally turned the corner and now we’re going on the offensive,” said Marion Police Chief Richard Nighelli.
When first responders arrived at the clinic, their IDs were verified with names on a list before they drove under a large tent to receive the vaccine, administered by paramedics from Marion, Mattapoisett, Rochester and Wareham.
