Two familiar faces will serve on the Stoughton Select Board as former selectman Scott Carrara and current Chair Steve Cavey won seats in the Annual Town Election Tuesday, April 6.
Carrara topped the ticket with 814 votes, with Cavey tallying 729. Finance Committee member Dave Lurie followed with 626 and former state Senate candidate Jarred Rose had 552. There were 371 blank ballots cast.
In all, 7.5 percent of registered voters cast ballots.
Cavey returns for a third term
Although Cavey was grateful for the win, he lamented the low voter turnout.
“Eight percent of the registered voters of Stoughton turned out yesterday,” Cavey said. “That’s a really bad percentage, and it’s dangerous for the democracy of our town. People’s interests are not being recognized.”
