RICHLAND, Wash.- Toxic algae has been detected at the Howard Amon Park swim beach for the third week in a row and people and pets are being advised to stay

The Benton Franklin Health District say algae toxins detected in these areas are above recreational guidelines.

KENNEWICK, Wash.- According to The Benton-Franklin Health District, toxic algae has been detected at the Howard Amon Swim Beach.

The toxin in the water is particularly harmful to children and dogs.

People should not drink lake water and not allow their pets to drink the water, as well.

Algae blooms have appeared along and close to shores around Lough Neagh. 

People told to void contact with the water as two toxins can be harmful to humans and fatal to pets.

Blue-green algae, which blooms in warm weather after feeding on phosphates and nitrates washed into the lough following heavy rains.
