After seven stages and eight days of competition, Stephane Peterhansel and co-driver Edouard Boulanger lead the Dakar Rally by nearly eight minutes.
Peterhansel has not yet won any individual stage in his Mini JCW buggy, but his consistent high finishes have kept in him the classification lead since the end of stage 2 and his lead on Toyota s Nasser Al-Attiyah is up to nearly eight minutes. The gaps to third and fourth are even more significant; Peterhansel s Mini JCW teammate Carlos Sainz sits 41 minutes behind in third, while Orlen s Jakub Przygonski is an hour and twenty minutes behind in fourth.
