majority leader harry reid needed 60 votes to continue so the president s jobs plan fails. one senator not crazy about the plan is connecticut independent joe lieberman. regret to say that i don t believe we can do it with the mix that s in the american jobs act. it seems to me like a mini stimulus. and the word stimulus is not a good word on capitol hill these days. two democrats voted against it. they are ben nelson from nebraska, the other from montana, both are facing very difficult 2012 re-election fights. trace? trace: mike, as the president was making his final pitch, what arguments did the republicans make? they re saying they don t like the all or nothing approach that the white house and the president put before them. they like some aspects of the president s plan but senate republican leader mitch mcconnell feels like this is a lot about 2012 politics. take a listen.
mitt romney. he went to new jersey to visit christie to discuss the endorsement over the weekend and today, christie said in the last week, he had called rick perry, called jon huntsman and called newt gingrich but ultimately decided he would endorse mitt romney who has got an absolutely astronomical lead in new hampshire. take a look at the latest poll. it shows that mitt romney at 44% has a 31 point lead over both herman cain and ron paul who are tied at 13%. no other candidate in new hampshire is out of single digits. he has a 23% to 20% lead. you got to go 10 points back north to get to ron paul and rick perry essentially tied for third place. seeing mitt romney leading the pack there and a lot riding for herman cain tonight as well. trace? carl, now former governor
