LOGANTON Sugar Valley Rural Charter School will be closed for the next three days due to a spike in COVID-19 cases at the school.
On Tuesday afternoon, SVRCS posted on social media that the school would be closing. The letter from CEO Tracie Kennedy read: “Due to the recent increases of COVID-19 cases among students and staff at the Sugar Valley Rural Charter School, we will be returning to full remote instruction for the next three days (March 17, 18 and 19). We will return to the in-person learning/virtual learning as chosen by you previously on Monday, March 22.”
According to the release, the district sent computers home with students on Tuesday.

LOGANTON Garret Hampton, under the leadership of Arleen Parker, from Sugar Valley Charter Rural School, finished in first place in the Statewide division of thePennsylvania Council on Financial Literacy Budget Game. Additionally, Isaiah Nearhoof, also of SVRCS, placed third.
Sugar Valley’s CEO Tracie Kennedy, commented, “Congratulations to Garret and Isaiah for their hard work and accomplishments.” Parker added, “My students love the Budget Game. They can’t wait for cconomics class to play the next month.”
The Pennsylvania Council on Financial Literacy (PennCFL) provides students in grades 6-12 in Pennsylvania a world-class, web-based budget simulation platform and curriculum called the Budget Game. This program is sponsored by Bank of America.
