2 new cases of COVID-19 UK variant confirmed in Washtenaw County By FOX 2 Staff LANSING, Mich. (FOX 2) - Two additional cases of the UK COVID-19 variant have been identified in a pair of women living in Washtenaw County who were in close contact with the first person in Michigan to be diagnosed with the COVID-19 variant. All three individuals are associated with the University of Michigan, according the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services on Thursday. The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) and Washtenaw County Health Department are announcing detection at the U-M laboratory of the two additional variant cases. The cases were among individuals who were close contacts of an adult woman living in Washtenaw County who tested positive for the variant after traveling to the United Kingdom, where the UK variant (B.1.1.7) originated.

2 more cases of COVID-19 variant confirmed in Washtenaw County, all 3 patients associated with U of M Centers for Disease Control (CDC) Coronavirus Disease 2019 and last updated 2021-01-21 21:29:07-05 (WXYZ) â The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services says they have now confirmed two more cases of the B.1.1.7. variant of the COVID-19 coronavirus. The two Washtenaw County women are close contacts of the patient who was initially diagnosed with the B.1.1.7 variant on Saturday. All three individuals are associated with the University of Michigan. In all, a total of seven additional cases of COVID-19 are linked to the initial patient with the B.1.1.7. variant. While two of those cases are now confirmed to have the variant strain, it is not yet known whether the remaining five contracted the variant strain.
