The 26 malnourished dogs seized from a Payne Street home last month all survived thanks to speedy intervention by Olney police and were transported earlier this month to a rescue operation in Kansas City, Missouri, said Shelby Brogdon, director of the Humane Society of Young County.
Olney police removed 26 dogs from a urine-and-feces-infested home on Payne Street on Friday and arrested wo people in connection with the massive animal cruelty case that sprang from a health-and-safety inspection, Chief Dan Birbeck said.
An Olney couple was arrested Friday by Olney Police Department on four counts of animal cruelty after a search warrant resulted in officers finding 26 dogs in emaciated and neglected conditions. Jerry Wayne York, 55, and Tracy Lynn York, 45, both of Olney, were booked Friday, March 24 into the Young County Jail on four separate charges of cruelty to non-livestock animals. Additionally, Tracy was charged with tampering or fabricating physical evidence with intent to impair.
