Nkhotakota Police Public Relations Officer Paul Malimwe has identified the suspect as Lucius Chimoto.
According to Malimwe, the suspect committed the offence when the mother of the victim was admitted at Nkhotakota District Hospital.
âThe suspect got the opportunity on the absence of his wife and inserted a bone into the private part of his step daughter.
âThe bone got stuck inside her private part and the grandmother to the victim noticed some changes in her granddaughter who was having difficulties in walking,â says Malimwe
Malimwe further said: âLater she took her to the district hospital where she was operated and the bone were removed.â
Fire has gutted over seven houses, destroying several items whose value could not be immediately unquantified, at Chiboko area under Traditional Authority (T/A) Mphonde in Nkhotakota District.
According to an eye witness Osman Chipatala from the village, the fire emanated from a kitchen room around the affected area, and no life has been claimed during the inferno, as people are currently putting out the fire.
Meanwhile, the affected people have asked for assistance from well-wishers.
Nkhotakota Police Station publicist Williams Kaponda asked for more time to gather information on the incident.
