palestine and you can see the undercarriage of one of the train cars glowing and creating sparks on the tracks. they believe that s what caused the derailment an overheated wheel bearing but it was taken 45 minutes before the train eventually derailed to east palestine. one thing the ntsb is looking at is why the operators and sensors on the train didn t detect that problem sooner. we talked to a bunch of folks last night and a handful said they had no complaints with how norfolk southern responded but most people are extremely frustrated and don t have any confidence the railway will stick around for the long haul to make sure their small town is fully cleaned up. i think the people in norfolk and southern right now i thank them for what i ve seen. they ve stepped up to the plate. don t play us. the railroad covered up nasty
there are still hundreds of thousands of people without power, and then you have tropical storm mindy coming ashore overnight, and bringing a lot of rain to the south as well. so areas that just keep getting hit by these storm systems coming through. here is a little bit of the sense of relief that things were not worse, but the rain didn t help with cleanup, and that is what the people are focused on here today. so much cleanup that we do see the power crews, that are out, and helping with the gaslines, and helping with the powerlines and so the recovery here continues even as so many around here are still looking for help, geoff. yeah, just compounded devastation there in manville. and thank you to kristen dahlgren. we are awaiting breaking news from the news conference of merrick garland on that action
war when black people were granted the right to vote and white floridians adopted a constitution that disenfranchised anyone with a felony conviction and added to the felony roster a variety of crimes they believed african-americans were more likely to be convicted of. i sat down today with john legend and a couple floridians who are urging organizers of the amendment 4 campaign. i thought maybe, december monday, if you could dell us how you came to this issue? first of all, thank you for having me, chris. back in 2005 i found myself standing in front of the railroad tracks waiting on a train to come so i could jump in front of it, homeless, addicted to drugs, recently released from prison. i didn t see any light at the end of the tunnel. i was ready to end my life. the train didn t come that day. i cross it had tracks and checked myself into drug

people that in this case people that have they re not in prison currently. they ve finished their sentence, finished probation. like if you go to someone and you say why shouldn t that person vote, it s hard to come up with an answer? it s hard to argue against them voting. and like i said before, 75% of the felons in florida didn t even do something serious enough to get prison time. right. so if there s 75% of them we deemed not even prison worthy for that, surely we can t punish them for the rest of their lives and say they can t vote. you guys have put together a really interesting coalition, polling at 75/25, blowing my mind right now. tell me about the politics where you guys are coming from? i love it. i think part of the reason listen, we are an organic, grassroots effort that is comprised of people from all walks of life. this didn t come down from somewhere else. you made this. no, this came right you re looking at it. you went out and got the signatures
