Penn State changes fraternity and sorority recruitment eligibility for spring 2021

Penn State announced a change to the fraternity and sorority recruitment eligibility requirements for the spring 2021 semester on Friday. The new standard allows students to participate even if they have previous conduct violations and sanctions, which vary from the previous standard stating students were ineligible if they have active conduct violations or sanctions. With the new requirements, students will be ineligible if they have an active Conduct Probation with a Transcript Notation, which is one step below suspension, at the time of recruitment. Along with not having a Conduct Probation, students interested in participating must be enrolled as a full-time student; not be suspended at the time of recruitment; have a 2.50 cumulative GPA and at least 14 credit hours at Penn State; and participate in an online information session under the Penn State s Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life.

Penn State Modifies Spring 2021 Greek Recruitment Eligibility

Under these new guidelines, students who meet certain requirements can participate in Greek recruiting, with the exception of those who have had conduct probations notated on their transcripts. The revised guidelines have been added to protect the social, emotional, and academic interests of students. All students who wish to participate in fraternity or sorority recruitment or recruitment for spring 2021 must: Have earned at least 14 credit hours at Penn State; or earned 27 transfer credits, or be considered an adult learner Have a 2.50 cumulative Penn State GPA Not have Conduct Probation with a Transcript Notation at the time of recruitment or intake

University announces eligibility change to fraternity and sorority recruitment

January 7, 2021 UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. Beginning spring 2021, Penn State will impose revised eligibility requirements for students who wish to participate in fraternity and sorority recruitment. Under the new guidelines, all students who meet a set of requirements will be eligible to participate, with the exception of those who have who have been sanctioned with Conduct Probation with a Transcript Notation by the University’s Office of Student Conduct.  Previously, any student with “active conduct violations or sanctions,” were prohibited from participating in recruitment. The new requirement specifies that the only conduct sanction that will disqualify students from participation in recruitment is Conduct Probation with a Transcript Notation when it is still active at the time of recruitment.
