KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia dropped six spots to 57th position among 180 countries in the Transparency International (TI) Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI) for 2020.
Transparency International Malaysia (TI-M) president Dr Muhammad Mohan said Malaysia’s score also deteriorated to 51 out of 100 points on the CPI survey.
“We may have dropped by two points which is statistically insignificant, but the drop in score and position is a cause of concern. We need to improve and I am sure we can do better than countries like Rwanda, Poland and so forth,“ he said.

MALAYSIA’s score in Transparency International’s (TI) Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI) for 2020 has dropped two points, a small decline but still a downward trend that should not be dismissed, TI Malaysia president Dr Muhammad Mohan said.
Malaysia scored 51 points out of 100 in 2020, putting it in 57th place out of 180 countries. In 2019, it scored 53 points and was in 51st place.

Greece improves score in global corruption index, says Transparency International

Greece has climbed one spot to 59th position among 180 countries in the Transparency International (TI) Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI) for 2020.
Greece’s score also improved to 50 out of 100 points on the CPI survey.
The group’s 2019 report gave Greece a score of 48, which put the country in 60th place.
The index ranks 180 countries and territories by their perceived levels of public sector corruption according to experts and businesspeople. It uses a scale of zero to 100, where zero is highly corrupt and 100 is very transparent.
Denmark and New Zealand continued to top the CPI, both with 88 points, while Syria, Somalia and South Sudan were still at the bottom.

AMMAN The Kingdom has maintained its ranking on the Transparency International’s (TI) Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI) 2020 for the past two years, standing at the 60th place, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported, citing a report released by the international anti-graft watchdog.
Scoring 49 points out of 100, Jordan ranked 60th among 180 countries on the index, which measures the perceived levels of public sector corruption, and ranked fifth among Arab countries following the UAE, Qatar, Oman and Saudi Arabia, according to the report
