KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Police are investigating a fatal snowmobile crash in Cass County.
The accident happened around 10:15 Saturday evening on a trail near the intersection of Indian Lake Road and Topash Street in Silver Creek Township.
Investigators say three snowmobilers were involved. Two were traveling westbound, while the other was traveling eastbound before approaching a hill and colliding, killing 45 year old Keith Wesbster of Elkhart Indiana.
The other two drivers were taken area hospitals.  Authorities say that helmets were worn and that speed does appear to be a factor in the crash.

AKWESASNE The Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe’s Emergency Operations Center (EOC) reports one new case of COVID-19 Friday, which makes 17 total active cases under the Tribe’s jurisdiction. Officials there say six people have recovered, leaving 54 in quarantine.
“As vaccinations continue in accordance with the CDC’s recommended guidelines, we ask those who will soon receive the vaccine to please be thoughtful,” a press release from EOC said. “The vaccine’s purpose is to protect our community, particularly our most vulnerable members our elders. It’s not intended to let individuals take vacations or other non-essential trips, nor does it allow you to no longer follow the safety protocols that are still being highly recommended.”
