Three Caltrans Workers Injured By Falling Tree While Performing Slide Prevention Work at Last Chance Grade

Caltrans press release: Two contractors and a Caltrans employee were injured today when a tree fell during removal and slide prevention work at Last Chance Grade on U.S. 101 near Crescent City. The workers were transported to a local hospital. Motorists were not driving in the construction zone when this incident occurred, and Caltrans traffic spotters and flaggers will continue to conduct 24-hour surveillance of the area until work is completed. The health and safety of the traveling public, department employees, and its contracting partners remains Caltrans’ top priority, and Caltrans is cooperating fully with Cal/OSHA on its investigation.

Fatal snowmobile crash under investigation in Cass County

Photo courtesy of Cass County Sheriff KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Police are investigating a fatal snowmobile crash in Cass County. The accident happened around 10:15 Saturday evening on a trail near the intersection of Indian Lake Road and Topash Street in Silver Creek Township. Investigators say three snowmobilers were involved.  Two were traveling westbound, while the other was traveling eastbound before approaching a hill and colliding, killing 45 year old Keith Wesbster of Elkhart Indiana. The other two drivers were taken area hospitals.  Authorities say that helmets were worn and that speed does appear to be a factor in the crash.

Valley Journal: Early morning fire destroys multiple mobile homes

PABLO Charred wood and crumpled metal are all that remain of two uninhabited mobile homes destroyed by fire early Sunday morning. At about 1:45 a.m., the Ronan Fire Department received a call concerning a report that multiple structures were on fire at the corner of Division Street and Old U.S. Highway 93. Ronan fire chief Chris Adler said two mobile homes were fully engulfed in flames and the roof had collapsed on one by the time firefighting crews arrived on scene.  Mutual aid from Polson Rural Fire, Ronan Ambulance, Tribal Police Department and the Lake County Sheriff’s Office assisted at the scene.
